Playing with fire, Serie III
This series delves into the ambivalent relationship between play and danger, the work consists of a set of reliefs composed of incinerated wood and small explosives of popular use in Mexico called “palomas”. This piece is built with newspaper clippings whose selection serves the symbolic power of its contents printed: photographs, drawings, words, letters and numbers. These images are intervened in turn with drawings in Chinese ink to make a playful and ironic critique establishing a symbolic game by deciphering the relationships that establish some images with others.
The “palomas”, intended for fun and play, are also an explosive danger. In the news displayed you can find this same ambivalence, which puts the reader to a game that alternates pleasure and horror.
